Learning Journal 3 WEB Technology Reflection

I have learned from the tutorial on Internet Safety

1. Introduction to Internet Safety by knowing the risks, malware, spam, & phishing. Computers can give false sense of security and treating the internet as you would shop at mall or dangerous place.

2. Creating Strong Passwords by knowing which passwords would be strongest from people/hackers guessing and passwords that are weak and easily hackable. There's a small chance someone can steal info and when making passwords don't use personal info like name, birthday, username, or email address. Never use same password for each account you have and include numbers, symbols, & both upper and lowercase letters in password. Avoid words found in dictionary and lastly make password as random as possible by using the password generator.

3. Your Browser's Security Features by web browser has built in security features and malicious websites often deceptive web addresses. So double check domain name and look for lock symbol at bar. Avoid using credit card number if don't see lock symbol in bar and update browser regularly.

4. Avoiding Spam & Phishing by understanding how to identify + avoid by being in inbox including spam and phishing attempts. Spam is more difficult to emails to actually read. Spams can include phishing and malware which are serious risks to computer and spam messages are in spam folder. Check spam folder regularly and spam can also contain images to sender to track your computer so turn off email images. Phishing is different and will try to trick you to provide sensitive info and can come from bank or another trusted source. Identify phishing emails by address will be off, urgent subject line, logo fraud, & sense of urgency. So, trust best judgement, never send someone money, and never download email attachments you weren't expecting.

5. Avoid Malware is the most common hazard when computer is online and they're easy to avoid. Can protect computer by running antivirus + antimalware like Bitdefender and Norton. Keeping OS, browser, & other programs updated plus backing files so malware can't delete or corrupt data on drives. Malware involve clicking something to download or install. Ads on websites can look like system messages or diagnostics, prize you won, pop-up windows + clickbait. To identify suspicious sites, ask friend, search for info on site, check address, and run Google safe browser diagnostic.

6. Safe Online Shopping have risks but there are ways to protect financial info by shopping at home network, avoid shopping in public networks, websites have lock and using HTTPS by being safe to enter info, research company or seller before buying, business should have physical address + phone number, check reviews on Yelp and Google, avoid direct transfer, bank transfer, or sending cash or checks through mail and try payments like PayPal or Google Wallet, always save records, & use common sense + trust your instincts.

7. Understanding Browser Tracking you will leave record of website you visit and along each and every thing you click. website can use your accounts and imp. to understand how online data is tracked + used. Cookies store specific info and will not be risk to online security. Can use private mode and decline to accept cookies from some websites that allow that option.

8. Social Media Privacy Basics by sharing something on social media is more public than sending through emails or instant messaging. Think before sharing to social media and control who you share with.

9. What To Do If Your Computer Get A Virus by trying to remove virus. Can remove by scanning and removal by installing programs. So run full system scan and once scan is done and antivirus can't remove it don't ignore it. If everything fails erase hard drive and reinstall your operating systems and programs and keep regular backups of data.

10. Installing and Updating Browser Plug-Ins which includes Adobe Reader + Microsoft Silverlight and Adobe Flash Player, Java, & QuickTime are older plug-ins. Keep plug-ins updated and don't recommend updating plug-ins directly from warning messages.

11. Phone Verification help you verify your account and protect account. If something goes wrong, you have emergency contact number. Services to not give phone number are Hushmail, DuckDuckGo, & Burner (Not free to use).

12. Wi-Fi Security by accessing hotspots in coffee shops, hotels, airports, & other public spots are not secure as home network. Make you're on legitimate network, firewall is on and antivirus up to date, turn on Wi-Fi settings to manual and not automatic, disable file + printer sharing, never leave laptop or mobile device unattended, & don't contact financial transaction in public hotspot.

13. Driving Safety With Mobile Devices by avoiding using mobile device, dialing, taking notes, & look up phone number while driving. Phone should be within arm's reach and use hands-free device. Stay off and get off phone in hazardous conditions and don't drive while being in emotional or stressful conversion so either pull over or suspend conversion. Never text, browser, or watch videos and program trip before going into traffic. NEVER attempt to take photo or video when you're the DRIVER.

I have learned from Module 3

Was more about cyberattacks on the internet like hackers, scams, virus, etc. More on what companies/businesses and apps and they have gotten a cyberattack.

The slideshow for learning on the different cyberattacks was very helpful to take the Q4. By learning about cybersecurity, 5 different computer viruses, more on cookies, firewall, on public Wi-Fi, home wireless network security, & more on info privacy.

Some videos and the slideshow:

Personal Computer Security

Some students work for on Data Breaches was helpful for learning more on how cyberattacks affected businesses/companies and apps.

Data Breaches

The muddiest point in this module was the discussion on data breaches for me. Try to find the information was hard and writing about it was a little difficult for me. It wasn't my best one, but I still got some goods in there. I also did forget to add the link to website and another info. I realized after sending out post and don't know how to edit post after sent to others. 😓😩

I will do differently to protect my personal info by becoming more cautious with websites, emails, etc. By keeping tracking on what apps, sites, etc. I use so I know that some sketchy email or website pops up, and I know that it's not safe to use or don't risk. To keep track I would make a password book to keep track of apps I have used, look at reviews, influencers on the internet, ask others' opinions, & call company or store to ask them questions. 😄👍

Some resources that helped me

The slideshow and data breaches discussion.

My participation is doing great that was one of the shortest modules I have done so far. It would be nice to do more assignments like using Canva again and recording more videos on tutorials or other things.

The four terms and definitions I learned from this module were from the slideshow.

  1. Cookies -information sent from a web server to a browser. The information gets stored in a text file on the user’s computer to be retrieved by a web server at a later time
  2. Malware - is malicious software designed to infiltrate a computer without the owner’s consent
  3. Virus - Program that can replicate itself by attaching itself to other programs
  4. Worm - A Worm is a software that replicates itself through a computer network in order to spread

Learning Journal 7 WEB Technology Reflection

I have learned from Module 7 This is the last learning journal in the final module for my Intro to Web Technology class. By using WIX to make a one-page website was easy but also overwhelming at first until I saw  all 9 lessons on using WIX . It was actually really fun and really cool to make my own first website. Now I have a final project to finish yay!!! NOT excited to read information in the sites.    🙁😑😒 WL12 - Website I made Also  learning more  on  good   and  bad websites design  was  really  interesting. The one link  in  slideshow part 1  Coolors.co- color palette generator   on viewing colors is so fun and most of the  color combinations  were pretty. Especially looking at them colorblind eyes sometimes.           My Discussion Post   (Can also click on picture to go to Discussion 7 Good and Poor Web Design) Colors Non-Colorblind ...

Learning Journal 1 WEB Technology Reflection

I have learned from Module 1 I used Canva for my presentation on an internet topic of 5G Technology.  5G by Emma Niver On the history on the Internet: World Wide Web is a place for all users to share, search info, etc. The timeline on when each app was created About each creator who created a media app   By figuring out how the class works we did one zoom meeting for the syllabus. Then getting into a module with assignments and prerecorded videos for us to watch. Some trouble I had was trying to find time to finish the assignments in the module on top of my other classes. As I keep using Brightspace it has become easier to navigate my assignments, classes, tests, etc. For reminders I will get notifications from my phone for the pulse app, Gmail, and writing it down on my planner for assignments. I can also look for reminders on my laptop as well. I found helpful for finding information for my Canva presentation was the websites I used = History on 5G Technology A...

Learning Journal 4 WEB Technology Reflection

I have learned from Module 4 About how to google search like a pro, spot out fake news, & learning a little on the dark web. By learning how to search like a pro I watched many videos in the slideshow, it really made me learn how to search better. Learning on the dark web I watch this video from the slideshow.  I also learned on the  other webs from this picture . Media Literacy Break the Fake Quiz Spot out fake news is still difficult for me, but this module made me learn how to spot fake news better. I played this quiz and watch two videos from slideshow  to help me understand better. We also did a discussion which made me understand how I would  use this knowledge to the real world and how to understand how fake news can affect people. People that are close to you can be tricked by fake news, friends , teachers , etc .     My muddiest point in this module was the WL 5 + 7 . I had a tricky time with them, needed some help on those assignments...
